I was lucky to be treated in such a lovely hopsital. The staffon Ambrose were helpful and kind.
I stayed in overnight and was very well looked after by all the staff.
I was totally crippled by my hip condition and on very high doses of painkillers. Within 2 days of my hip replacement operation I was walking without any pain and within 3 months fully recovered able to balance on both legs and climb stairs and full mobility. In my 90th year I find this incredible and thank the doctors, nurses and the care at Spire Harpenden for the wonderful job they have done.
An important part of this recovery was the care afterwards with the physio and the geriatric doctor that helped me so much with the withdrawal from the opiates that seriously affected me. Their care was wonderful and helped me through a dark time. Thank you so much.
Service first class it isn’t that often I make such a comment but in this instance the Spire Hospital
Deserves this comment in every aspect of their work
Nurses were there when I needed them , sometimes took s while to answer buzzer but know they have lots of people : treated me very well though and felt well looked after
A lovely hospital. Quiet environment. Clean. Super friendly staff. Parking etc. Just what you'd expect from a private hospital.
During my stay I found all the staff (nurses, physiotherapists and the anaesthetist) I met to be very friendly, professional and attentive. They looked after me very well after the operation, and kept my partner updated when on the few occasions when she could not visit, and supplied with coffee and biscuits when she did!
The physiotherapists fully explained what they were doing and what exercises I needed to undertake when I went home.
Likewise, the anaesthetist clearly explained his role in the operation prior to it taking place, and checked on me immediately afterwards and prior to my discharge.
Also, the food was excellent.

Very good facilities and kept you informed very well. Just had one negative experience with a night duty nurse when needing more pain relief. I had to stay in over the weekend and on Sunday their were only two nurses and a doctor on the ward and two other patients but the service was maintained excellently.
When visiting later as a day patient I was offered lunch but nothing appeared until I asked for it after 2 o'clock. Otherwise, everything was very good and positive.
excellent care
Awful experience with them, got a phone call the night before a mole removal operation to say it was cancelled. No explanation given and not rescheduled. It's so stressful when you're already worried that the mole could be cancerous.
